On Saturday, December 6th, 2025, Sachiyo Yoshino (2nd year student, Faculty of Medical Technology) from Teikyo University Judo Club competed at the Grand Slam Tokyo 2025, an international judo tournament held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo), and won second place in the women's 48kg class.
The Grand Slam Tokyo is a tournament in the World Tour organized by the International Judo Federation (IJF), boasting a prestige second only to the Olympics and World Championships, and as the only Grand Slam tournament held in Japan, it attracts attention from both within Japan and overseas. Results at the tournament are reflected in the world rankings, making it an important tournament that can lead to participation in future Olympics.
Yoshino has steadily built up a track record on the international stage, winning the women's 48kg class at the World Junior Judo Championships in October this year, and at this year's Grand Slam Tokyo she played confident matches against top-ranked players in the world, advancing all the way to the finals. We hope you will continue to support the Judo Club.
